As of June 15th, 2020, we are wholeheartedly looking forward to welcoming you back to our resort in The County. We want you to know that we acknowledge the concerns you may have and that we are committed to providing you and your family with a safe and relaxing vacation environment that meets and exceeds public health guidelines.

For our cottages and public areas, we have introduced enhanced cleaning protocols that involve specific training for our staff, as well as extensive 2-Step cleaning and disinfecting procedure including thoroughly cleaning all surfaces with hospital-grade disinfectants.

Hand sanitizing stations are being installed at our front desks and at specific higher-traffic locations around the resort. Safe-distance floor markings and partitions at our front office/reception have been added to provide an extra level of precaution for our guests and staff.

Enhanced technologies are also being introduced including electrostatic sprayers to quickly and more effectively sanitize surfaces. We are also following the testing currently underway on ultraviolet light technology which can quickly and easily sanitize keys, park passes, and other items commonly shared between guests and staff.

We are going above and beyond our normal protocols and have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting surfaces with dedicated staff. We will continue to monitor all developments and actively evolve our procedures in order to ensure a continued focus on the health and safety of our owners, guests, and staff.

To offer further assurance to our guests, and because the health, safety, and well-being of our owners, guests, and staff is our uppermost priority, we are maintaining our BOOK SAFE POLICY as follows:

Any cottage reservation made for an arrival on or after June 15th, 2020 can be cancelled within 15 days of the scheduled arrival date, and any deposits & payments already paid towards your cottage vacation reservation will be refunded immediately and in full, should either the Canadian, Ontario or Hastings Prince Edward Public Health Agencies re-introduce a Stage One COVID-19 alert, or any other level of alert, that disallows travel and/or the use of your cottage vacation at that time. Sandbanks Summer Village also reserves the right to cancel any reservation with a full refund if we determine there is any reason or cause that may jeopardize the health and/or well-being of our guests, staff, and cottage owners.

Thank you and we hope to see you soon.

Are COVID-19 specific cleaning protocols being put in place?
Yes. we are putting in place enhanced cleaning protocols that involve specific training for our staff, as well as extensive cleaning and disinfecting procedures including thoroughly cleaning all surfaces with hospital-grade disinfectants.

Is SSV using any new cleaning technologies to sanitize cottages and other areas?
We will be using electrostatic sprayers to enhance current cleaning practices (please see below). We are also currently following tests on UV technology to assess the benefits and efficacy for resort operations.

What is electrostatic spraying?
Electrostatic spraying is a cleaning method where a device is used to apply an electric charge to a disinfectant, enabling the disinfectant to more effectively cover a surface than traditional cleaning methods.

What other hygiene and safety procedures is SSV taking?
The CDC and WHO warn about direct, person-to-person contact as the primary way COVID-19 is spread. To help alleviate the risk of transmission in this way, SSV will be placing signage in locations of higher traffic such as the front desk and amenity areas. We are also adding a partition at the front desk to provide an extra level of precaution for our guests and staff. Where applicable, we providing masks and gloves to staff and installing hand sanitizing stations in various locations.

What cottage cleaning procedures changed as a result of the pandemic?
On a daily basis, we are working to ensure that the latest guidance on hygiene and cleaning is maintained. Our health and safety measures are designed to address a broad spectrum of viruses, including COVID-19, and include everything from hand-washing hygiene and cleaning product specifications to enhanced cottage and common area cleaning procedures.
• Cottages: We are initiating a 2-Step Cleaning and Disinfection process utilizing hospital-grade cleaning and disinfecting products and protocols recommended by leading public authorities to clean cottages after guests depart and before the next guest arrives, with particular attention paid to high-touch items.
• Public Spaces: We have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting in public spaces, with a focus on the front desk, door handles, light switches, public bathrooms, and other frequently touched surfaces.

What will happen when a guest checks in or if at the front desk and standing in line is required?
• We will be initiating a minimal contact registration process with online digital registration. Guests will be able to pick up their keys and other applicable information at the entrance gate.
• If at the front office, and in harmony with social distancing guidelines,we are installing floor level markers to help guests maintain appropriate social distancing.Guests will enter the front desk area through one door and exit through another. A partition is also installed at the front desk though guests will also be able to register online and pick up their keys to their cottage at the entrance gate on arrival.

Are masks and/or facial coverings required?
In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the area, local businesses in the area may require masks or other facial coverings to enter their establishments. Please be sure to bring your own facial coverings for this purpose. Under the Health Unit’s instructions, this would include: retail stores, convenience stores, restaurants, personal services settings, grocery stores and bakeries, gas stations, indoor farmers’ markets, areas of mechanics’ shops/garages/repair shops, which are open to the public. We also require all guests to wear a facial covering when entering our front desk area, or while enjoying other areas of the resort where it may be difficult to maintain social distancing of 6 ft.

How often is the front desk and other public areas cleaned?
We have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting in public spaces. Our teams are focused on cleaning frequent contact surfaces such as front desk check-in counters, door handles, public bathrooms, room keys and locks, etc. If a guest should have specific questions about our cleaning practices, we ask that they contact us directly.

Will Sandbanks Provincial Park be Open?
Unfortunately, this falls entirely under the responsibility of the province and we can not confirm the information on this. We recommend checking Sandbanks Provincial Park website. As of June 15th, however, the Park is open for day use with limited services available.

Which amenities will be open during my stay?
All amenities permitted under current public health guidelines will be open. This may however, involve some form of limited or conditional use in accordance with public health guidelines and/or those mandated by management to be in the best interests of all concerned. Guests are encouraged to bring their own equipment, balls, racquets, etc. as the availability of our own equipment will likely be limited this year.

Would I be entitled to a discount if amenities are not open?
If COVID-19 regulations and guidelines require amenities to be closed, or if some form of limited use is required in order to ensure the health and safety of all, a discount would not be applicable unless specifically pre-arranged.

Are there limits on how many people can use the amenities or congregate in other public areas?
SSV is monitoring and adhering to guidance from local and provincial public health authorities though these are often changing. In the current Phase 2 re-opening, the limit is 10 people gathering. It may eventually be possible that some amenities or activities require some form of limits or screening procedures.

Family PoolOur family pool is open!!!!  In accordance with the Provincial Guidelines, only permitted 33 people maximum are currently permitted in this enclosed area.

As we enter into the peak season with increased population at the resort, we will be implementing some changes to the Family Pool and Boat Reservation procedures to better ensure that everyone gets the same opportunity to enjoy these amenities while still maintaining the extra safety precautions required by the Covid-19 Health Regulations and Guidelines.

Starting July 3rd, 2020 sign-up will commence at 10:00 am at the pool and the waterfront on a first-come, first-serve basis.

For the pool, each person can reserve up to 6 people for one-time slot for that day – remember we can only permit a maximum of 33 people in each time block.

We have amended the times to increase the number of guests able to sign-up for the pool, and have created sign-up sheets for the boats as well with the following times available:

  • Please also maintain physical distancing while in line as well as all areas of the resort including the waterfront and pool areas.
  • If any block does not have the full 33 people, lifeguards will allow others to enter even without registration, up to the 33-maximum allowed allotment.

  • Lifeguards will be asking patrons to move if needed in order to maintain Physical Distancing guidelines.

We will not have supervision available and will thus be appealing to everyone’s common courtesy and goodwill to maintain and abide by easy to follow rules which conform to Public Health and Safety Regulations and Guidelines.

To avoid line-ups and allow as many people to use the fitness centre as possible, we will be implementing a Sign-Up system with times from 8am-8pm in order to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to use the facility during peak times. This system will function as follows:

Fitness Centre Self-Monitoring System

Sign up will be on a first come first serve basis for up to 5 people per time slot.
• A table will be placed inside the facility with daily sign-up sheets where patrons can record their name, lot #, time, and User number (1-5).
• Laminated Pool-User numbers from 1 to 5 will be available at the table and each patron should take one number and register accordingly. Please keep your User number with you during your time at the facility.
• When you’ve finished with your activity, we are kindly asking owners and guests to sanitize/disinfect equipment they may have used before leaving the fitness centre.
• Please return your laminated number to the appropriate location at the entrance table.
• Please limit your time in the fitness centre to 60 minutes or less.

There will be both hand sanitizer and disinfecting spray available at the table and throughout the facility for patrons to disinfect all equipment before and/or after use.

We are very happy to welcome back the Adult Pool which opens on Saturday, July 11th at 9:00 am. The pool will, until further notice, be open every day from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Please note, however, that we are only permitted to allow 20 people in the pool and deck area at any one time.

As this is an adult pool only, we will not have supervision available and will thus be appealing to everyone’s common courtesy and goodwill to maintain and abide by easy to follow rules which conform to Public Health and Safety Regulations and Guidelines.

To avoid line-ups and allow as many people to use the pool area as possible, we will be implementing a Sign-Up system which will function as follows:

Adult Pool Self-Monitoring System
Maximum of 20 People in Pool Area

Sign up will commence at 9:00 am each day on a first come first serve basis for up to 20 people per time slot.

  • A table will be placed at the entrance to the pool with daily sign-up sheets where patrons can record their name, lot #, time, and Pool-User number.

This system will also allow more people to enjoy the pool if some should choose to stay for shorter periods of time.

We appreciate that this may be a frustrating way to use this amenity. However, we feel it is the best way to respect the current regulations and ensure the health and safety of all.

In the meantime, we will continue to monitor the province’s easing of restrictions as well as maintain open communications with Public Health. In accordance with this, we will adapt the above adult pool policy as well as that of other resort amenities.

Please be assured we are all doing our best under difficult conditions and we appreciate your patience and understanding in these extraordinary times.
